Ceramic pottery is a vocation that arrived late, at the age of 46, after having held several different jobs and having spent many years abroad. It happened after our return from Brazil, a period made difficult by a husband busy with his work and the children gone to study in the UK. Encouraged by my husband, I decided to humbly return sitting on school benches of a professional institute in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye (France), where I spent a year to get a professional degree of potter-ceramist. It is during that period that I was fortunate to cross the path of Antoine Drouillaux, Master of ceramic art to whom I wish to express my gratitude.
After my course, I created a workshop in Fleury la Vallée, in Northern Burgundy, where I worked on sandstone of Puisaye. In 2009, my husband was called to work in Tokyo and we moved back to Asia, where we already spent several years in China and Singapore in the mid’90. I had no other choice but to put my workshop on hold with the firm intention to set up a new working place in Tokyo. A few months later, «Atelier d’Argile Edo» was created. I produce unique pieces made with stoneware from Mashiko area, burnt around 1250˚C in a electrical kiln. My work is inspired from numerous trips throughout Asia. I also continue acquiring new skills and inspiration, especially with japanese ceramic and Ikebana (Japanese floral art), an interesting synergy to develop my creativity in producing original ceramic vases.
